Measuring Guide

To ensure our customers the best possible fitting we recommend the following guidelines for taking measurements. Please ask a friend to assist when measuring for the most accurate results. Please note that all products made from measurements provided by customers can not be accepted for return. When placing orders can all customers please include the following information:
  • Suede or Leather
  • Flat or National Hunt
  • What colour
  • What colour tops

Gibson Boot Guidelines
  1. Length of Leg Measurement
    Ground - knee. Mark leg at measured point.
  2. Height of Calf Measurement
    Ground - widest point of calf.
  3. Top of Leg Measurement
    Measure around leg from mark made in step 1.
  4. Calf Measurement
    Measure around widest point of calf.
  5. Above Ankle Measurement
    Measure around 15cm from floor.
  6. Long Heel Measurement
    Measure base of heel, over throat of in-step. 
  7. In-Step Measurement
    Measure from in-step over arch of foot.
  8. Ball of Foot Measurement
    Measure around ball of foot.
  9. Foot Size
    Please account for socks.




Gibson Half Chaps
Gibson Half Chaps Guidelines
  1. Below Knee Measurement
    Measure around knee. Taken just below knee cap, allowing leg to bend.
  2. Calf Measurement
    Measure around widest part of calf. Tighten tape slightly.
  3. Ankle Measurement
    Measure around ankle, over boots that are to be worn when riding. Tighten tape slightly.
  4. Length Measurement
    Approx 1’ from ground - point below the knee measured in step 1.

Gibson Full Chaps
  1. Waist Measurement
    Measure around waist and over clothing that will be worn. Tighten tape slightly.
  2. Thigh Measurement
    Measure around widest part of thigh. Tighten tape slightly to allow for required fit.
  3. Knee Measurement
    Measure around widest part of knee. Tighten tape slightly to allow for required fit.
  4. Calf Measurement
    Measure around the widest part of the calf. Tighten the tape slightly allowing for the type of fit that is required.
  5. Ankle Measurement
    Measure around ankle, over boots that will be worn when riding. Tighten tape slightly.
  6. Inside of Leg Measurement
    Top of thigh - approx 1’ from ground. Use a rigid ruler if possible to ensure accuracy.
  7. Outside of Leg Measurement
    Waist - approx 1’ from ground. Use a rigid ruler if possible to ensure accuracy.





When taking measurements for Gibson Riding Chaps please take into account how you would like the product to fit, i.e. tight, comfortable or loose.
